The Protective Services Training Academy (PSTA) is located in Prince Georges County, Maryland adjacent to Andrews Air Force Base, and approximately 11 miles from the Capitol.

The mission of the state-of-the-art training facility is to provide:

  • A full array of training/simulation services and facility rentals to private and government organizations within the protective services, law enforcement, corrections, and military communities
  • PSTA is a non-public range designed specifically for law enforcement, military personnel, security  professionals and government contractor only.
  • A place for individuals in the law enforcement, military, corrections, and protective services field to hone their skills in a peer-friendly environment.
  • A retail store on premises fully stocked with high-quality firearms, ammunition, and other equipment and supplies
  • 40,000 square foot training facility located adjacent to Joint Base Andrews and 15 minutes from downtown DC.
  • 2 state-of-the-art indoor ranges with 27 lanes.
  • Use of Force/Decision Making Simulator for active shooter response training.
  • 10,000 sq. ft. of vehicle accessible indoor multi-purpose area.
  • Firearms training and certification.
  • Outdoor area for fitness testing and other training.
  • Classrooms that can accommodate upwards of 40 students.
  • PSTA trains over 5,000 students a year in law enforcement and security.

The PSTA training and instructional staff is uniquely qualified when compared to our competitors in the area, offering a wide array of training certification opportunities for students.

Our staff includes instructors that are certified by the National Rifle Association Law Enforcement Activities Division, Maryland State Police, District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, and Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) to provide Armed and Unarmed Certification Training to security professionals. The instructional staff is also certified by the American Red Cross to teach and certify CPR (Adult and Pediatric), AED and First Aid, as well as providing instruction in — less-lethal weapons, inflammatory agents and chemical munitions.
